Jody
Babcock started in the hobby building his own cars from scratch. He had been
building contest static models for 10 years or so and the modeling part
was easy.
Class Winner at 2 N.N.L. National Contests.
A model car builder
turned slot car builder. Jodys' and his 7 year old son were racing, every
car he built someone would offer him pretty good money for it.
After about a year of racing, he only had 3 cars, and he had built about
30.
Jody realized there was a demand for his work, so he started building
cars for other people. To date he has painted about 450 cars and built about
200 completes, he takes pride building accurate replicas and his
favorite are Pro Mods and Outlaw Street Cars, but he will build any car
a customer wants.
"I want to be known
for my accurate replicas of real cars, and the challenge of trying to replicate
a famous car is what keeps me enthused" says Jody.

Jody
builds model kit body slot cars 5 to1 over resin bodies, he seem to be
one of the few who paints resins and they are growing in popularity for
him because of this.
Jody photo etched parts and brake rotors are all borrowed from
the Model Car World.
He is a fabricator by trade and works at a shop with a laser cutter so
he cuts his own chassis which are all inline built on a Precision
Slotcar chassis fixture.
Wheels, tires, and beadlocks are Pro Track exclusively. All cars start
off with body work using polyester filler, urethane primer,
automotive base coats, then urethane clear.
For interiors he uses only TR tubbed interiors painted by Larry Kreshner
or Matt Sheldon.
Decals are custom
made by several of the decal suppliers in the hobby.
Jody has been doing this for almost five years as a hobby turned
part time business.
He's paints around 150 bodies and builds approximately 50 complete cars
a year.
